Snow and Rain | West Virginia Weather
from The West Virginia Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the West Virginia Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th. That gray blanket overhead? It's not just for show. We're at 43 degrees right now. And those clouds are wringing themselves out across the southern part of the state. Down in the coalfields, rain is falling as we speak. The heaviest stuff hits around 10 A.M., so if you're commuting, keep the wipers handy. You'll top out at 45 degrees before the clouds finally pack up this afternoon and head east. Central West Virginia, you're playing weather roulette this morning. A chance of rain through midday, then skies crack open. Highs near 49 degrees. Tonight drops to 31 degrees under clearing skies. Up in the Northern Panhandle, you might see a snowflake or two between 9 and 10 A.M. Just a quick hello from winter — nothing that'll stick around. Highs hit 44 degrees with mostly sunny skies by afternoon. Tonight you're the cold spot at 26 degrees. Here's your reward for enduring this damp Thursday morning. Friday brings sunshine and 60 degrees in Central West Virginia. Saturday cranks it up even higher — mid 60s. The kind of weekend where you'll forget it's still February. But don't get too comfortable. Sunday night into Monday, a winter storm takes aim at West Virginia. Rain and snow are both on the table, though the details are still fuzzy. Keep an eye on this one as we roll into March. The spring equinox is three weeks out. And we're adding over two minutes of daylight each day. Sunset tonight is at 6:17. Grab the umbrella this morning. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
