Snow Starting 8 PM | Connecticut Weather Noon

from The Connecticut Weather Podcast

Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Connecticut Weather Podcast for Wednesday, February 25th. So that snow on your windshield this morning? That's a clipper system making a quick exit. About half an inch fell overnight. Another inch or two before it wraps up around midday. Not a blockbuster. But enough to make the roads sneaky. Eastern Connecticut is getting the steadiest snow right now. You're sitting at 39 degrees. That snow tapers off by 11 A.M., then shifts to a rain snow mix before calling it quits. Central Connecticut is right there at 38 degrees. A slight chance of flurries before noon, then a quiet afternoon. Tonight gets more interesting though. Rain moves in between 8 P.M. and 2 A.M. Set your wipers to ready. Down along the coast, also 39 degrees. Maybe a brief mix around 11 A.M., but otherwise just gray skies doing their thing. Nothing dramatic. Tonight, skies partially clear statewide. Lows settle near 28 degrees along the coast and in the east. Central spots dip to 26. That damp chill that cuts right through your jacket? Yeah. That's tonight. Folks, the week ahead tells a good story. Thursday brings mostly sunny skies and highs near 40. Friday stays pleasant. Same deal. Then Saturday.. Mid to upper 40s under sunshine. That's February pretending to be March. Enjoy every minute of it.. Because an arctic front crashes the party Sunday night. Monday and Tuesday? Highs barely crack the upper 20s to low 30s. With a chance of snow. A 20 degrees nosedive in 48 hours. Fun fact. On this exact date in 2016, Connecticut hit nearly 47 degrees. Today we got snow. And we're gaining almost three minutes of daylight every day now. Spring equinox is just three weeks out. I'll be tracking that arctic front all weekend. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
