South Carolina pair sentenced to life in prison for crime spree: Thursday, Nov. 3

Tyler Terry and Adrienne Simpson, the suspects in at least four homicide cases in three states and a week-long manhunt in Chester County, pleaded guilty in court Wednesday morning.Terry was charged in connection with at least four homicides in two states before his arrest in May of 2021. He also led Chester County police on a chase that led to an all-out manhunt before he was finally captured. Prosecutors said it was the most extensive manhunt in Chester County's history.“More than 600 law enforcement officers at the state, federal and local level participated in this investigation in the hunt and capture of these individuals," Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey said after the sentencing.READ MORE: https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/crime/tyler-terry-murder-suspect-plea-deal-court/275-21cfa1d6-d86a-4846-a125-51f57162c29cNorth Carolina health leaders are reporting the first pediatric flu death of the 2022-2023 season.In a news release Wednesday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) said the child was in the eastern part of the state and faced complications from influenza. NCDHHS notes this is the first child flu death since February 2020."We extend our deepest sympathies to this child’s family on this heartbreaking and tragic loss," said State Epidemiologist Dr. Zack Moore. The child's hometown, county, age, and sex are not being released to protect the family's privacy.The death was reported just two days after South Carolina health officials reported their first pediatric flu death of the season. The first adult flu-related death in the state was reported on Oct. 14.NCDHHS is urging people to get their flu shots as the Tar Heel State sees a rapid, early rise in cases.
