The Kepler Space Telescope Inception Point Ai The Kepler Space Telescope was a NASA space telescope launched in 2009 to discover Earth-sized planets orbiting other stars. It was named after astronomer Johannes Kepler, who discovered the laws of planetary motion in the 17th century. Kepler used a technique called the transit method to find planets. This method involves looking for tiny dips in the brightness of a star that occur when a planet crosses in front of it. Kepler monitored over 100,000 stars for four years, and during that time it discovered over 2,600 exoplanets, or planets outside our solar system. Some of the most notable discoveries made by Kepler include:Kepler-186f, the first Earth-sized planet to be found in the habitable zone of another star.
