Union with God, abiding in Christ, shapes us. The fire that purges us is basically destroying our self-centeredness where it's actually creating and activating our real self in to the person God wants us to be."  Spiritual formation is the process of lining ourselves up with Christ. Being restored to the Imago Dei.
