Spotlight: Conversations with people who have useful information around eating disorders. Ruth talks to Richard Palmer who founded The Eating Disorder Recovery Clinic in April 2023.He absolutely loves working in the eating disorders field and watching clients recover. It is the most challenging, and rewarding, work that he has ever undertaken. It’s no secret that he rages at the general level of eating disorder treatment in the UK. Too much of the treatment provided by statutory and independent organisations is just not good enough. Richard's goal with The Eating Disorder Recovery Clinic is to create a safe, caring, compassionate clinic that provides utterly superb treatment for the individuals working with them. He truly believes that everyone living with an eating disorder can recover, but they need to be given the right treatment at the right time by the right professional. This is what he aims to deliver. Effective treatment and recovery are entirely possible if we move away from manualised treatments and fully engage with client-led care.
