[§98] Rev 8:3-4: A Day of Atonement in the Heavenly Temple

This podcast interprets and explains the imagery used by John to describe events in heaven in Revelation 8:3-4. These verses correspond to the half-hour of silence that begins in Revelation 8:1. In this half-hour of symbolically measured time, Jesus Christ will perform his intercessory role as the mediator by offering incense on the golden altar of the heavenly temple. The incense will produce an aromatic smoke that will ascend to God as the prayers of righteous saints. This vision presents the anti-type in heaven of the earthy day of atonement that was celebrated in the tabernacle of Moses and in the temples of Solomon and Herod for hundreds of years.
