ST00172 - Towards the big brother or away from him?

What comes to your mind, when you hear the following words: “Lord, you have searched me and know me, you know when I sit down and when I rise up”. A lot of people do not want to hear that, they are bothered by these words, because they feel as if God was like a big brother watching them. They worry if everything is uncovered, there are also things that they have done wrong, so they rather walk away from God. But of course God knows everything. And yes, nobody is perfect so there are things that we have done wrong. But that is not the biggest problem. Whatever we have done wrong God wants to forgive. The biggest problem is that we walk away from God. He is not like a big brother who wants to punish us. Rather he is the good father who - in his loving mercy - wants to forgive, help and he enables new beginnings. Today, do you turn towards him or away from him?
