Stop Treating Your Body Like the Enemy (The Real Love Story for February)

from Midlife Shenanigans with Tish

This February, forget everything you've been sold about love and romance. I want to talk about a different kind of love story: falling in love with your body. When was the last time you thanked your body for carrying you through life? When did you last celebrate what your body can do instead of obsessing over how it looks? For most of my life, I treated my body like an enemy. I avoided mirrors, wore baggy clothes, went on every diet, and did everything in my power to change myself. It was exhausting being at war with my own body. But here's what transformed everything: I learned that my body was never the problem. It never was, and it never will be.In this episode, I talk about three common myths about our bodies:Your body is a problem to be fixed (spoiler: it's not)You need to earn your body's worth (nope, you have inherent value right now)Loving your body means always feeling confident (ha! not even close)I'm chatting about body acceptance, what self-love looks like when it's messy and complicated, and why choosing to love your body in a world that profits from your shame is a radical act of rebellion.Your body was never the problem. It never will be.
