Success for north west at Tidy Towns awards

Sligo Tidy Towns is celebrating a number of prizes in the 2024 Tidy Towns national awards.  It was named the winner in the Bat Conservation Ireland award for its Bat Mural.  It also received a special award (large town and large urban centre) in the gum litter task force category and received €2000.  Elsewhere, Riverstown was named as Sligo’s tidiest town.  Coolaney/ Rockfield was named in second place with Sligo town in third.  In Donegal, judges named determined Buncrana the county’s tidiest town with Letterkenny (second) and Carraig Art (third) just behind them.  Carrick-on-Shannon received the highest mark in Leitrim.  Fellow south Leitrim town Dromod placed in second with Dromahair in third plac  Chairperson of Sligo Tidy Towns, Finbarr Filan has paid tribute to all those involved in achieving the success:
