I've never felt shame in this way before. It was really weird for me. To feel a sense of sadness, pain, and even loss around something that was at least 30 years old. I knew I had been peeling my onion down layer by layer, but this one was out of the blue. Shame is a dirty lie we tell ourselves. It's an emotional bond that I no longer wanted.
