from F.A.C.T.S. | Factual. Authentic. Captivating. Transformative. Stories | · host Kevin Caraballo Barrios
On today's F.A.C.T.S. podcast, host Kevin Caraballo invites guest speaker, Chrycka Harper who was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Chrycka J.N. Harper (also known as Rycka) knew she had big dreams while living in a small city. Whenever she opened her mouth, it was evident to her family that she was going to make it one day. It was also clear that she enjoyed eating! Her home and family life abounded in practicality, humor, and fellowship over food. After graduating from Wichita High School East, Chrycka's mom and brother packed a rental minivan to drive her 1,428 miles to Washington, DC to attend Howard University. Fast forward to 2018, Chrycka obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Master of Social Work, and a passion to bridge mental health empowerment, storytelling, and food. From there, she embarked on a career journey full of tears and triumphs as she constantly refined her vision while simply adulting. Now, Chrycka is embracing her purpose to empower people to cook for joy and therapy through her platform, Rycka's Kitchen. She will be the spokesperson for the mental health benefits of cooking and how it can be a strategic tool in food justice. In her free time, Chrycka enjoys dancing, reading, journaling, and creative writing, and, most importantly, growing in her Christian faith. In this episode, we’re going to have a conversation about what it is like to be a Black woman in the field of entrepreneurship. So let's dive in!
