Tales of Wisdom- Ft Vivek Tiwari

from Inswinging Yorkers · host Sushant Tiwari

05.12.2023: I was extremely fortunate to chat with ACC-4's ex-vice captain Vivek Tiwari. He shared his journey coming from a small village in India, how he came across Cricket at a very young age, how he kept in touch with the game in South Africa, and how his journey is going now in The Netherlands. Being a passionate and deep personality he is, we talked mostly about the emotions associated with the game, and when and when not to control those emotions. We also talked about our love for “fast” bowling (even though our quickest ball is probably Brett Lee’s slowest ball). Hope you enjoy the show. Please leave your comment for any suggestions. -Sushant

Socrates in the City Socrates in the City Socrates in the City is the acclaimed series of conversations on “life, God, and other small topics,” hosted by Eric Metaxas. He founded Socrates in the City in 2000. Metaxas is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of MARTIN LUTHER, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT, BONHOEFFER, AMAZING GRACE, and MIRACLES. His books have been translated into more than twenty-five languages. Evelyn; or A Heart Unmasked by Anna Cora Mowatt Ritchie Loyal Books Evelyn is a two-volume novel told in an epistolary style – alternating between letters from the point of view of a trusted, unmarried female friend of the young, naïve heroine of the novel and those of the feckless adventurer who decides that he must seduce the beautiful Evelyn. The author, actress/novelist/playwright Anna Cora Mowatt, was a fan of the works of Fredericka Bremer . This narrative is heavily influenced by that writer’s style. Like Mowatt’s hit comedy, “Fashion,” the plot centers on the misadventures of nouveau riche family social climbing in New York society of the late 1830’s. Whereas the play was comedy, the novel turns towards tragedy. The author still spices her narrative with strong doses of social satire, however, and gives us many revealing glimpses of everyday life of New Yorkers of the early 19th century. - Summary by Kelly S. Taylor
