from OAME Talks · host David Petro, OAME Past President

Summary : With funding from a TLLP grant, a team of Mathematics and Special Education teachers have worked together throughout this year to better understand how to support our students with learning disabilities. Our team met monthly, developed learning profiles, collected data, analyzed psychological assessments, visited mathematics classrooms, and explored various supports for students. At this session, we will share our journey as these teachers worked to better understand the strengths and needs of these students in order to put in place student specific accommodations. By using the expertise of all the educators in the group, both the content knowledge of the Mathematics teachers and the Special Education teachers knowledge of exceptionalities and various accommodations, we all were able to grow in our knowledge of how to support these learners.
