Teen Scammer Sold Fake One Piece Cards
from Pittsburgh News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
A 21-year-old Marylander, Joel Brown, is wanted for allegedly swindling a card-flipping victim out of $15,000 with fake “One Piece” trading cards. The scam unfolded on Facebook Marketplace, where Brown, using the alias Eric Mercado, met the buyer for a cash exchange — only for the victim to later discover the cards were counterfeit. After being ghosted and blocked, police traced the fake profile to Brown, who was also found to be in the area during the transaction. Investigators say this isn’t his first rodeo — he’s suspected of similar scams in Virginia. Brown now faces theft and fraud charges, with an active arrest warrant out for him.
