The $11,000 Debt and the Unsettling Pride: Unmasking the Asyut Murderers

from Crime Night · host Crime Night

The case of the “Asyut Assassins” shocked Egypt with its brutality and cold planning. At the center were Latifa and her two daughters, Shaymaa and Mona—a wealthy family whose crime seemed to have no justification other than greed and fear of exposure. Their victim was Khamis, a traveling salesman who had lent Latifa money. When he pressed her for repayment of 11,000 pounds and threatened to report her to the police, the women decided that silencing him permanently was easier than paying him back. They meticulously prepared for the crime: sedatives, ropes, and even a grave dug in advance. Khamis was lured to their home, drugged, beaten, and finally strangled to death before being buried on their property. His belongings were later disposed of to cover their tracks. But the cover-up didn’t last long. Police quickly traced the missing salesman’s possessions back to the women. Confronted with the evidence, they confessed, and in 2017, all three were sentenced to death. You can listen and download our episodes for free on more than 10 different platforms:https://linktr.ee/crimenight1Produced by:https://www.podcaistudio.com/
