The Art of the Simple No - A Byron Katie Technique to Remain True to Yourself

from A Phil Svitek Podcast - A Series From Your 360 Creative Coach · host Phil Svitek

Oftentimes I've said yes to things I really wanted to say no to. Or if I did say no, I gave a long winded reason why because I didn't want to hurt the other person's feelings. Neither helps. In the first scenario you're doing something that you don't want to be doing and in the second you're opening yourself up to debate. A simple no is far more effective. And it's all in the way you say it. "Thank you AND no" rather than "thank you BUT no." This is a technique from Byron Katie, who I love. I heard Elizabeth Gilbert talk about it on Tim Ferriss' show and it made so much sense (https://tim.blog/2020/05/08/elizabeth-gilbert/). That's what I explore in this episode, so check it out. Afterwards, comment down below with any questions or thoughts that you may have. Hit me up on social media @PhilSvitek if it's easier. I'd love to hear from you.
