The Atlantic Files #184: Is Julius Randle max worthy?

from The Atlantic Files · host Alex Fischbein, Dennis Clausen and Mike Bash

This week, we have a big rundown of some topics in the Atlantic Division as well as around the league! New head coaches, Julius Randle up for a new contract, Kyrie Irving rumors, and so much more. First things first, Ime Udoka was named as the newest Head Coach of the Boston Celtics. He takes the reigns of a team that had very high hopes this season but is still set up for a lot of success come next season. The biggest question is whether or not Ime Udoka is the solution or if it's the roster construction. Julius Randle had himself a season for the New York Knicks. He was named the Most Improved Player of the Year and named to the All-NBA Second team. Now, the Knicks are going to have an issue on their hands soon. Is Randle worthy of a max contract or is that going to jeopardize how they build the team for the future? There's been a lot of trade talks swirling around the league with many names in the mix. One name that's been mentioned on some national media outlets is Kyrie Irving. Could he have rubbed the Brooklyn Nets front office the wrong way with sitting out some games just because he didn't want to play? Would they even be open to trading him away after only one season? Speaking of trades, it looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves are one of the most interested teams in acquiring Ben Simmons. What could they even trade to make it worthwhile for both teams? We needed to talk about some trade scenarios because there's not much the Sixers might even want. Finally, we took a look at the other coaching moves made around the league. Jason Kidd is now in Dallas to take teach and take the lead of Luka Doncic and the Mavericks. Plus, Chauncey Billups was hired in Portland which has sparked a lot of these trade talks surrounding Damian Lillard. All of that and more on the latest episode!
