Our guest this week, Michael Smith, founder of The Carlton Smith Music Group would argue, it's not that the industry is dead, but the rules have changed. In order to survive in the game you have to know what these rules are, how to protect your interest and how to have the right connections. In 2014 he launched The CSM Music Conference and Expo to honor and celebrate the long standing history of music while enlightening and educating those who want to succeed in the music business. Michael got his start in the music business in New York, the city known as birthplace of hip hop, freestyle, doo wop, bebop, disco, punk rock, and new wave. While there he worked as a  Radio DJ and also held positions as an  on-air personality and associate producer. He has been featured on projects listed in Amazon Studios, MSG Networks and BET. He currently Hosts CSM Radio on WMUC 88.1FM at the University of Maryland, College Park and produces music of various genres.Tune in as Michael shares some tips and strategies on the business of  music and how to survive in what some say is a dying industry.
