The Darkest Brightest Day

Passover was always a reminder of both the bad things of the world and the wonderful ways of God. On one hand the Passover was dark. Sacrifices. Blood on the door frame. A death angel. Darkness that sticks with you for generations. A reminder of the human condition. But at the same time the Passover was a bright light for a people enslaved. It was hope. It was freedom. It was a people getting their life back after years of hurt and pain. And that is the reason it was memorialized. Stories that would be repeated for generations. A memorial meal to help the people reflect on the powerful moment that God delivered them from Egyptian captivity. Songs and scriptures that would be memorized and repeated year after year.
