Jesus seeks to fill those who surrender their lives to Him such that they experience a “double portion” relative to those who are content to follow Him at a distance. The double portion life, is a life that knows God intimately and is experienced in proximity to Him. It is a life that is characterized by contentment produced through communion with God.
