The Garden Is Officially Producing: Harvests, Baby Tomatoes, and the Cucumber Takeover

from Dirty Data · host Stephanie Steelman

In this episode of Dirty Data, the garden officially moves from setup mode to production mode.I share my first meaningful harvest of the season, including seven yellow straightneck squash, fresh cilantro, dill, and green onions. The Better Boy and Celebrity tomatoes are now setting baby fruit, and the cucumbers are producing heavily—while also trying to climb onto the tomato plants.I also talk about the blossom end rot issue that affected my squash, how that problem appears to be improving, and the mixed pepper row experiment that should produce a combination of jalapeños and bell peppers. The radishes are up, but germination was a little spotty, and I still don’t see the shoulders forming yet. And with an unusually rainy and cooler-than-normal start to the season, I’m beginning to wonder how weather patterns will impact yields this year. This episode is a real-time look at what happens when a backyard garden starts producing—and what the data is already revealing.Follow Dirty Data* Instagram: @dirtydata.gardening* YouTube: Dirty Data Gardening* Linktree: dirtydata.gardening Topics Covered* First harvest of the season* Better Boy vs. Celebrity tomatoes* Cucumber trellis management* Squash blossom end rot* Mixed jalapeño and bell pepper row* Radish germination concerns* Rainfall and temperature effects on garden production

NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next.
