from O YE DRYBONES (FEB 2019 - JAN 2025) · host DRYBONES
The Valdosta Daily Times has received an exclusive short video and lengthy manifesto from wanted student-protester Eric Sheppard. The video, that simply authenticates the message from Sheppard, is posted here. The manifesto from Sheppard, posted here, contains speech and language that might be considered offensive. The message from Sheppard contains specific references to this weekend’s graduation ceremonies at Lowndes High School. Police Chief Brian Childress has said while Sheppard’s rhetoric contains threats, but he and his department do not consider the threats to be credible. Officials have suggested the message amounts to a publicity stunt by Sheppard. Sheppard has been on the run since a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with bringing a gun onto campus following a protest at Valdosta State University. While The Valdosta Daily Times understands concerns over the release of the video and message, The Times chose to release what it received from Sheppard in order to provide the most complete information to the general public possible. The Times had been told if the newspaper did not release Sheppard’s statement it would be released through other means.
