For more than 30 years, Mary has worked with communities and individuals to design innovative public facilities, shared spaces, and residences, all thoroughly connected to place. Committed to strengthening the human experience through design, Mary was a Founding Member of the AIA Seattle Strategic Advisory Council and served as AIA Seattle President in 2015. Mary also served on the Seattle Design Commission from 2004-2008 and as SDC Chair in 2008. Mary is a frequent jurist for design competitions nationwide and has been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Washington, teaching studio classes in the College of Built Environments, since 2001. Mary’s lifelong dedication to great design earned her election into the AIA College of Fellows in 2008, and she is currently on the National AIA Fellows Jury. Mary holds a BA in English Literature from Colorado College and an M. Arch. from the University of Washington.
