The Journey And The Destination (album mix)
from Basement Rock · host Basement Rock
Lyrics: what matters more, the journey or the destination you ask with a sense of resignation don't think for a second your time didn't matter just cause you didn't spend it on the right chatter That banter will cloud your mind, these brimstone fountains will clear in time From then on you'll see the skies for what they are, opportunities and possibilities stretch into liabilities but don't fear the probabilities just enjoy the time we have the lives we live they're not so bad Even in the darkest timeline clouded by a sad symphony You'll eventually see that positivity can be more than a fad So even though I know I can be a tad overzealous you shouldn't get jealous cause they always tell us how much worse everything could be If you were actually free Sometimes I wonder if Steven King had it all wrong, the journey to the end of the song wasn't the real test we're all just guests searching for the richest place in the west If there's nothing at the end of your quest then what was it all for, we all die before becoming blessed So I address the question to you Does life require meaning or are we just robots machining a new Gleaming generation within this nation with a fixation on relationships So as I write this does it matter or am I just spitting blabber with no meaningful patter The illusion of free will paralyzed within the eyes of a lover Can you have everything forever And would that really be any better What matters more the journey or the destination, we ask with a sense of damnation But why do you speak with such despair in your voice, you should know that you have always had a choice Just cause you hate the options doesn't make it unfair Everyone lives in this world and not every life can compare to the standards elsewhere Don't you dare stare at what someone else has and say that should be mine cause there's always another man staring up at your stature saying the same wishing he was better at the game of life ain't that a bit of irony you can only see what you don't have and swear that if you had his square you'd be worth more than his whole affair And you'll never be self aware Enough to make this realization of the journey and the destination The life always wasted by our blind ambitions and by my own admission it's my own condition and my own tradition to blatantly share this disposition through one final definition Holding on to something more, Is that what I've been fighting for? To strip this world down to its core And remake it all as an encore But if there's one thing of which I'm sure it's that I could never endure this War So is it the journey or the destination, tell me which one you seek with no hesitation And maybe you'll find your answer there but just beware The king and the pauper end in the same place so you must face everything that this life brings and enjoy your time and fall right in line So sing for the journey and the destination this is everything within our station always ending With a standing ovation
