The book is many things at once—it is a letter but (at times) thunders like Old Testament prophecy; it is wisdom literature but is applied like a sermon; it is loosely ordered like Psalms and Ecclesiastes and yet follows a definite pattern. Each of these nuances make the book unique in Scripture. The main themes that carry the book forward are riches and poverty, wisdom, and trials.
