In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the most important nutrient if you are a vegan trying to do the ketogenic diet plan. One of the challenges of a vegan keto diet is keeping carbs low, keeping protein high, and getting enough nutrients (b12, iron, vitamin A/D, trace minerals). The main nutrient that those on a vegan ketogenic diet always seem to be deficient in is essential fatty acids. There are actually two of these fatty acids: 1. Omega 6 Linoleic Acid (This one is pretty easy to get) 2. Omega 3-Alpha-Linoleic Acid (This is the one to be more concerned about) Omega 3-Alpha-Linoleic acid doesn’t really do you much good unless it converts into healthy fats called EPA and DHA. These two facts are vitally important if you’re a vegan. But, it’s difficult to get this conversion—especially if you’re a vegan.
