The Mother Wound Meditation

from Wisdom Work with Quanita Roberson · host Quanita Roberson

Special meditation on the Mother Wound for Mother's Day. Transcript: To begin your meditation, find a quiet and comfortable space where you can be alone with your thoughts. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, allowing yourself to relax and let go of any tension or stress.   Imagine yourself surrounded by a warm, loving light. This light represents the unconditional love that you received in your mother’s womb. In the womb we all got what we needed or we wouldn’t be here. Deep down in us lives the memory of that unconditional mother love. In the womb when we needed nourishment we got it, even before our mothers. Her body fed us first. Sit in that love for a minute. That love was embedded deep within us. It was there from the beginning. You can call on that remembrance now.   Now let yourself think about the support that you may have missed out on in your relationship with your mother. Allow the light of the unconditional womb love to fill you up, and imagine it healing any emotional wounds that you may be carrying.   As you continue to breathe deeply, focus on sending love and forgiveness to your mother. Imagine seeing your mother for a moment not as your mother but as a woman, just like you with her own mother womb. Imagine her as a daughter, as a mother, as a woman. What might have been her hopes, fears, and disappointments? This can be a difficult step, as it may bring up painful memories or emotions. However, by seeing your mother, you get to see more of you and free yourself up from some of the negative energy that may be holding you back.   Finally, imagine yourself surrounded by a circle of supportive, loving mother figures. These may be actual people in your life, or they may be symbolic representations of the nurturing energy that you are seeking. Allow yourself to feel their love and support, and know that you are worthy of receiving it.   When you are ready, slowly open your eyes and take a few more deep breaths. Take a moment to reflect on your experience, and remember that healing is a journey that takes time and patience. With continued practice, you can begin to release the pain of the mother wound and embrace the love and support that you deserve.
