The Parable of the Wedding Feast

This parable appears to be a critique of the Pharisees who rejected the Lord’s summons to new life, refusing to let go of personal priorities and ambitions. But actually, it is a warning to all of us who pursue our own wills while taking the Father’s grace for granted. What could possibly be more important in your life than answering when the King of Kings calls? Especially with an invitation to become part of a joyful celebration? Put everything else on hold and answer that call! The Lord’s invitation is for us to turn to him, repent and be forgiven, then enjoy a renewed life and adjusted priorities. Let’s say “yes” to Jesus, and eagerly keep our eyes (and our trajectory) on the heavenly wedding banquet to come. Fr. Patrick Dorn preaches on Matthew 22:1-14.
