Hina talks to Spoon (Elroy Powell also known as Spoonface), who she met on clubhouse. They talk about Spoon’s journey to being who he is today and the powerfulness of the voice. Spoon’s voice career started when a friend asked him to speak on a dance track. The track became popular quickly and got to number one in the charts which meant he had to start performing! Spoon was actually trying to become a lawyer before he got his once in a lifetime opportunity into the music industry. He didn’t know anyone who had experienced anything like this, he had no one to ask questions to so at times it was a bit lonely and scary. He ended up burning himself out but this meant that he could let go of external validation. He stopped caring about what other people thought, he had to really understand internally who he was and be strong. Spoon’s advice for anyone struggling to use their voice is to figure out their purpose, why they want to use their voice and what they want to use their voice for. He also says it’s important to have gratitude and think about what it is you have to be grateful for, it opens you up to step into your confidence and you then learn how to empower yourself.
