The Pride of Prayerlessness

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

Today, Monday October 12 - If prayer is the most productive and most powerful thing we can do, we must ask the question, "Then, why don't we pray more?"  I'm convinced that we have been deceived by the devil that we really don't need to pray, we can make it without prayer, we can do it on our own.  Our neglect of prayer, and our prayerlessness, actually reveal the real condition of our hearts.  And that is a heart of pride.  Remember God "resist the proud" and only "gives grace to the humble."  Genuine prayer is always initiated by the Holy Spirit and begins to become my delight and a vital activity of my life, as I really acknowledge and confess that I am desperately in need of God, His grace and His help, in every aspect of my life!  Genuine prayer also takes place, as I cultivate an attitude of gratefulness and a heart of thanksgiving, realizing that I am so undeserving of any blessing and good thing that is in my life.  "Knowing that every good gift and every perfect gift is from the Father above" (James 1:17).  And then we can, "draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16)  God bless!
