The Queen of Sugar Hill

from I said it, It’s True! A Book and Film review · host Frances Nelson

In this amazingly written novel ReShonda Tate, the author gives us all of it! The way she describes each moment Hattie McDaniel endured and the way she endured it,was something that made my heart smile. And cry. She brings Hattie to life for those who knew her ,and even more so to those who didn’t get the chance to know such a lady. The same can be said for the entire book and it’s list of characters a-listers and not so a-listers. ReShonda reveals the hardships Hattie faced in a world so cold and unwelcoming to someone most deserving. It’s an adorable, endearing book that will leave you wanting to read it more than once. Take a trip back to the 1940s with me. Trust me,you’ll wish you were there.
