The Rules of Engagement and The Blessings of Service | Part 2 by Rev Obed Ocansey

from The Newlife Podcast

In this sermon, we delve in with Rev. Obed Ocansey, where we explore the "Rules of engagement" for those called to serve in God's house. Drawing from the foundational definition that worship is every part of our walk that depicts God as being above and ourselves as being below, this message challenges believers to move from being mere church-goers to becoming disciplined servants.Key Theological Themes & Insights:The Insurance of Service: When a believer enlists in God’s service, their safety, security, and expenses become the sole responsibility of the Lord. Just as a government is responsible for the upkeep of its soldiers, those running divine errands are guaranteed an "insurance package" that covers their lives and even brings favor to their children. The Foundation of Love: True ministry is impossible without a deep love for God and humanity. Rev. Ocansey teaches that the evidence of our love is our willingness to carry out God's instructions and feed His flock without making excuses, even when the task is difficult or inconvenient. The Spirit of Humility: Humility is defined as a state of mind where one refuses to look down on others regardless of their own certificates, wealth, or status. Following the example of Christ in John 13, we are called to "go lower" to wash the feet of others, making ourselves of no repute to fulfill the service of God.Respect for Rank and Divine Order: God is not an author of confusion and requires His servants to "match in line" like a disciplined army. This involves respecting the offices people occupy rather than just their age or wisdom to maintain harmony and order within the church structure.A Call for All Generations: Whether young like Samuel or of "great age" like Anna the prophetess, there is no age limit on usefulness in the house of God. Being faithful in "little" tasks, like cleaning or ushering, is what qualifies a believer for greater spiritual authority and anointed ministry. If God has laid a burden on your heart to do something for Him, get to work immediately. Do not allow time or the worries of the world to diminish your passion; instead, resolve to be a "bond servant" whose life is lived in perpetual service to the Master.Connect with Newlife Community Baptist Church:Spreading Love and Grace, Building a Thriving Community. • Contact: 02446851061 • Subscribe to the New Life Podcast for more life-transforming words!
