This chapter is an OT illustration of a NT truth, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap” (Gal. 6:7). Jacob doesn’t know it, but class in is session. As he heads for Haran, he’s about to be enrolled in a 20-year program in the school of sowing and reaping.
