The Stories We Dream of with Tara Rin Burke

from In Search of Tarot · host In Search of Tarot

Tara Rin Burke is a biracial non-binary Japanese Mystic who leans deeply into the wisdom of elemental magick and metaphor to connect. They are claircognizant, clairsentient, and clairaudient, and enter into relationship with these gifts through a lense of neuro-divergence and recognizing that so much of the way they live their life travels across timelines. Tara roots their personal folklore and mythological senses through seasonal folklore rooted in both Gaelic and Shinto based cosmologies where they track ancestral veneration, lineage tracking, and understanding the complexity, nuance and particularities of being of Irish, Slovak and Japanese descent. A forever student of practical magick making magick accessible regardless of entry point & introduction, Tara roots their studies within the framework of animist studies which in earlier years were guided largely in part by Laura Blakeman and Aquarian Witch Connie Bender. They have felt continued wisdom teachings and offerings on de-centering the white-centric spirituality complex and honoring earth-magick and wisdom dreams honored by BIPOC folks across the Diaspora, through listening and being in appreciation of the impact of the mystical throughout culture and across time. They deeply credit the work of Octavia Butler, Audre Lorde, Jewelle Gomez, Mary Oliver, Grace Lee Boggs, and Ursula K. Le Guin, as offering them a way to see worlds beyond the ones we’re living in, and to see new futures through their knowing that something exists beyond our scope of current lived realities. Their deeper understandings of time-travel comes from their love of science fiction and the imaginal landscapes of Anime, ASMR, collective organizing spaces, and understanding the pathways of dreams. Tara believes deeply in the body’s wisdom to hold informational coordinates for who we are and who we are becoming.
