THE TRUE NATURE OF BEHOLDING THE LAMB OF GOD BY GEORGE WHITEFIELD!

MANY OF US WHO HAVE ATTENDED CHURCH GROWING UP HAVE HEARD JOHN THE BAPTIST SAY, IN REFERENCE TO JESUS, BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD. THOSE OF US THAT KNOW OUR BIBLES KNOW THAT JESUS, BEING CALLED THE LAMB OF GOD, IS THE SAME AS SAYING THAT, JESUS “IS” THE PASSOVER LAMB THAT THE JEWS HAD BEEN WAITING FOR, TO ARRIVE, FOR 1500 OR SO YEARS. SO WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA SAY TO OURSELVES, WHAT IS THE PASSOVER OR THE FEAST OF THE PASSOVER? WAS JESUS CRUCIFIED ON THE PASSOVER, MEANING THAT GOOD FRIDAY COINCIDES WITH THE PASSOVER? IN ABOUT 1500 B. C. GOD TOLD MOSES TO GO BACK TO EQYPT, WHICH HE FLED FROM, BACK TO SPEAK TO THE PHARAOH, POSSIBLY SAME PHARAOH, IN WHOSE HOME HE GREW UP IN, WHOSE DAUGHTER RESCUED MOSES FROM A BABY ARK, HIS PARENTS PUT HIM, SO THAT HE WOULDN’T BE KILLED BY THE PHARAOH WHO ORDERED ALL BABY JEWISH BOYS TO BE KILLED BECAUSE THE JEWS WERE INCREASING IN POPULATION, TOO RAPIDLY, AND HE THOUGHT THEY WERE BECOMING A THREAT TO HIS PEOPLE. EVEN IT WASN’T THE SAME PHARAOH MOSES GREW UP UNDER, IT STILL, IS A POWER PLAY BY GOD ON THE POWERFUL PHARAOHS. GOD COMMANDED MOSES, THE BABY, WHO SURVIVED THE BABY SLAUGHTER, AFTER BEING GONE FOR 40 YEARS, TO GO BACK, TO THE PHARAOH AND DEMAND HE LET HIS PEOPLE, SLAVES OF THE PHARAOH, GO, BUT THE PHARAOH REFUSED AND SO GOD PUT 9 PLAGUES UPON THE EGYPTIANS, BUT THE PHARAOH DID NOT LET THEM GO. SO GOD PUT A 10TH PLAGUE ON THE EGYPTIANS, THAT IS KILL ALL THE FIRST BORN SONS, AS A REMINDER OF THE KILLING OF BABY JEWISH BOYS, WHICH MOSES SURVIVED. GOD THEN INSTRUCTED MOSES TO TELL HIS PEOPLE, THAT EACH FAMILY WAS TO SACRIFICE A LAMB ON THE 14TH OF THE MONTH OF NISAN, AND PUT THE BLOOD OF THAT LAMB ON THE DOORPOSTS OF THEIR HOME, AND IF THEY DID THAT, THE LORD WOULD “PASSOVER” THEIR HOME AND NOT LET DESTROYER KILL THEIR FIRSTBORN. Exodus 12: [1] And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, [2] This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. [3] Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: [4] And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. [5] Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: [6] And ye shall keep it up until the 14th day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. [7] And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. [22] And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. [23] For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. [26] And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? [27] That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. 1500 YEARS LATER, JESUS, THE PASSOVER LAMB, ON FRIDAY THE 14TH OF NISAN, GOOD FRIDAY, WOULD BE ROASTED IN THE WRATH OF HIS FATHER ON THE CROSS FOR THE ELECT, TO SET THEM FREE FROM THE CURSE OF THEIR ORIGINAL SIN WITH FAITH IN CHRIST’S FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW FOR THEM.
