The Unbearable Occupation of the West Bank | Featuring Nida Ibrahim

from Political Pendejadas Podcast · host Constanza Eliana Chinea

In last week’s episode, we discussed media bias and how it alters the way we look at things like foreign policy, and in particular the Palestine Exception. In a few days, we will hit the 6-month mark of the October 7th attack in Israel and Palestine. And over these past 6 months, we have seen the consequences of Western media’s dehumanization and disinformation of Palestinians on a massive and heartbreaking scale.Nearly 40,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli government through a series of bombardments and ground invasions. More than half of those being children. And this is the consequence of genocidal propaganda and media bias. Real lives are affected. People die.But the Palestine exception as we talked about last week, isn’t new and it doesn’t just stop at Gaza.Since its occupation, Palestine has been divided into two. Gaza and the West Bank. This division has made the occupation more effective, especially after the blockade on Gaza went into effect and the wall was built. The October 7th attack brought all eyes on Gaza, but Israel has not left the West Bank alone this past 6 months. In fact, it’s gotten much worse than ever before in the occupation.Journalists have been arrested and killed, undercover Israeli officers have attacked and killed hundreds of Palestinians, and settlers have only increased their brutality and violence in their attempt to steal more Palestinian land.So in order to get a better sense of what’s been happening there I reached out to my journalist friend Nida Ibrahim of Al Jazeera. You can follow Nida on her Instagram.
