from This is CDR · host OpenAir

In this session of This Is CDR we welcome Dante Simonetti, PhD and Gaurav Sant, PhD from SeaChange to tell us about the company's novel electrochemical CDR process that leverages the ocean's natural carbonate cycle to sequester CO2 at scale. Hosted by Toby Bryce and Megha Raghavan. ABOUT OUR GUESTS Dante Simonetti is an Assistant Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the Co-Founder of SeaChange Inc., the Grand Prize Winner of the Temasek Foundation’s 2021 Liveability Challenge. Prior to his appointment at UCLA, he was an R&D project leader at UOP-Honeywell where he led the development of several new technologies for multi-contaminant removal from industrial process streams. Dante’s expertise is in the area of catalytic reaction synthesis, adsorptive separation processes, and process integration and intensification. Gaurav N. Sant is a Professor and a Samueli Fellow in the Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is also the Director of UCLA's Institute for Carbon Management. Gaurav is the Co-Founder of SeaChange Inc., the Grand Prize Winner of the Temasek Foundation’s 2021 Liveability Challenge, the Co-Founder of Concrete-AI Inc., and the Founder of CarbonBuilt Inc., a Grand Prize Winner of the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE, and a GlobalTop10 Innovation selected at The International Cool Earth Forum 2018. Gaurav has served as an expert providing: a) testimony to the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and the California State Senate, and b) strategic consulting, core R&D, and innovation support to Fortune500 corporations, government agencies, philanthropic foundations, and industry organizations across the world.
