Abnormal thyroid function tests affect patients taking common medications, hormone therapies, and over-the-counter supplements. It is commonly associated with estrogen therapy, birth control pills, testosterone replacement, biotin supplements, opioid pain medications, and amiodarone use. If untreated or unrecognized, it increases the risk of misdiagnosis, unnecessary thyroid medication, chronic fatigue, and metabolic dysfunction.
