Toot Your Own Horn with Jim Logan (Episode 28)

from Toot Your Own Horn: Music Matters · host Lisa's Clarinet Shop

In this episode of 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐰𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐧: 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴, we meet Jim Logan, a musician whose journey into the world of music began in an unexpected way. Growing up in a family that wasn’t part of the band culture, Jim discovered his passion through an old piano on the porch, which sparked his interest in music. While the saxophone was out of reach financially, the clarinet became a possibility, and that’s where his adventure truly began. By 8th grade, he saw the pressure his older siblings felt in choosing a path in life, prompting him to consider his own options: chase his love for history or follow the path he excelled in—music. Choosing music, Jim found incredible support from band directors and private teachers who helped guide him along his journey. His love of history eventually led him to a fulfilling career with the Navy Military Band, as military bands are the largest employers of musicians in the U.S. Join us as Jim shares his inspiring story and reveals how he creates a space for music to truly matter to the people he meets through his performances and teaching. Whether you’re a music lover or just curious about life’s twists and turns, you won’t want to miss this heartfelt conversation!
