Tradecraft: Ivin Ballen from Lenscloud
from The Brooklyn Research Podcast · host BrooklynResearch
Ivin Ballen co-founder of Lenscloud, a Brooklyn based 3D scanning technology business talks with Harriet Salmon from the Craftsmanship podcast. Lenscloud specializes in custom solutions for high volume 3D data capture, as well as more conventional 3D scanning processes. Ballen worked as a materials specialist and fabricator for ten years before starting Lenscloud. Currently, Ballen is working with MIT's Immersion Lab on a custom photogrammetry scanner for high-speed avatar creation. Lenscloud has previously worked on avatar creation with Dassault Systemes, Novo Nordisk, Denso, Sony, Dell, as well as many other companies. If you have an interest in the leading edge of photogrammetry technologies and 3D scanning this is a talk not to be missed. Tradecraft is a collaboration with the Craftsmanship podcast. In this series we present a unique spotlight into the world of fabricators, specialized technicians, artisans, and masters of their trade. These individuals are often artists in their own right but work tirelessly behind the scenes to build, engineer, and realize technically demanding projects for the artists and institutions that contract them. Their technical skills are unmatched but they also possess the unique ability to translate artists’ concepts and visions into reality. If you haven’t already subscribed to the Craftsmanship podcast it’s available wherever podcasts are served.
