Transforming Connections

from Union Chapel Sermon Library

Ecclesiastes 4:7-12 “Rising from the debris of our lost values is the new value on the individual. The ‘me’ generation has given way to a ‘me’ world. The question is, how will the church, the ultimate ‘WE’ organization, adjust?” – Church Consultant, Lyle Schaller in The Connecting Church by Randy Frazee A life without connection brings isolation. Loneliness is a warning light on the dash board of your life that confirms that you are running low on the primary fuel you need: connection. A life without connection brings exhaustion. A life without connection brings frustration. Godly and meaningful connection brings production. Godly and meaningful connection brings provision. Godly and meaningful connection brings protection.

We come together each week as a university community to worship and glorify God, to build community among the entire university, and to inform and teach concerning the areas of faith and learning. The chapel experience is the central and focal event of the university - a time when we give public expression to who we are as a community. Expectant celebration which incorporates praise and participation and creative forms of worship characterize each service. University Chapel takes place on Wednesday. These services are more traditional in nature and often involve the chapel choir and other leadership from Union's music department. Chapels on Friday mornings are more contemporary in style and are primarily student led.
