Januari is nieuwjaarsmaand en dan wensen we elkaar een goede gezondheid. Vele mensen staan er wellicht niet bij stil dat onze gezondheid de overheid flink wat geld kost. Het RIZIV betaalde vorig jaar liefst 40 miljard euro uit aan geneeskundige verzorging en 14 miljard euro aan de bijna 600.000 arbeidsongeschikten, samen goed voor zowat een vijfde van de totale overheidsuitgaven. Veel geld dus. Is het ook te veel geld? En kunnen we dat dat geld doelmatiger besteden? Het zijn vragen voor Pedro Facon, de nieuwe grote baas van het RIZIV, vandaag onze studiogast.
