SERIES: “COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT!” The Old Testament book of Esther is famous for not having references to God in it. But most Bible scholars agree that the inspired author did so deliberately. He uses this as a literary device, as the NIV Study Bible notes, “to heighten the fact that it is God who controls and directs all seemingly insignificant coincidences.” He does the same in your life and mine, and so this introductory sermon series to 2023 will point out where God’s hand is at work and prayerfully apply it to our lives today.
