Jesus teaches us that is absolutely false. “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” If we take the attitude that freedom means we can do whatever we want, we actually end up a slave. You will only be free – spiritually, emotionally, eternally – “if you hold to my teaching” and therefore “know the truth.” Truth is the cause that effects freedom.
