Tuesday, January 2, 2024 - The Lines Are Drawn; Who's Still In?

from The Ron Show · host Ron Roberts

So over the holidays, judge Steve Jones took the just-as-partisan, even more racist (but not towards black people, at least as much as before) redrawn Georgia legislative maps and said "eh, this will do." Stunned a lot of folks who predicted at least two of three would need special master re-draws. Oh well; while there's still litigious pushes to alter that, most of the Georgia political community is rolling with it, which means some Democrats drawn together are bowing out. Gotta love gerryamndering. -_- WIth sagging poll numbers among black voters, President Biden and Democrats have work to do. On to discuss that with me is author & assistant professor of medical education, Dante King. We'll go over what's caused the erosion and what it'll take to stem it. I also sought his response to Claudine Gay stepping down at Harvard. I did also speak with NAACP Georgia chapter president Gerald Griggs last week about the stunning response to GOP map re-draws, and added that conversation to the back end of this podcast.
