Two New Red Pandas Arrive at Maryland Zoo
from Baltimore News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Two new red pandas, Aurora and a baby girl, have officially moved into their brand-new, climate-controlled habitat at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore — complete with air-conditioned dens, chilled-air logs, and fresh water stations. Aurora, nearly seven, already feels right at home on the perches, while her tiny companion explores cautiously. Though they’re solitary by nature, they’ll soon share the space with a muntjac and peacock — animals they’d encounter in the wild. The zoo’s inviting the public to help name the baby panda: for every $20 donated, you get a shot at naming rights — all proceeds fund their care. The public can see them starting Saturday, after a special preview night Friday. This debut not only upgrades the zoo’s experience but also supports red panda conservation.
