If the gospel is not a source of deep and overflowing joy - if it does not cause sheer exuberance - then we are missing something! Luke writes to Theophilus because he wants him to know the certainty of these things - but that is not just a cognitive knowing. He wants him to experientially know the joy of the Messiah's advent! How can we cultivate the uncontainable joy of Christ in our hearts?⁠
