Up-to-date science must be used to ensure full mica redress

from Ocean FM News Reports

Questions have been asked in the Dáil regarding the science used in the defective block scheme. The issue was raised by Independent Donegal TD Thomas Pringle, who urged the Government to use the most up to date science available.Deputy Pringle's query came after the National Standards Authority of Ireland said that there is no evidence that pyrrhotite is the cause of defective blocks in Donegal, and not Mica as previously thought. However, the Geological Survey of Ireland says that pyrrhotite has in fact been present since last December. In response to Deputy Pringle, Taoiseach Simon Harris said he would refer the matter to the Minister for Housing.
