Urgent meeting sought over south Donegal festival crisis
An urgent meeting is being requested with Failte Ireland over what's been described as an emerging festival crisis in south Donegal.Sea Sessions in Bundoran, The Donegal Food Festival and the Donegal Town Summer festival are all not going ahead this year. Plans are also said to be afoot in Cork over establishing a Rory Gallagher Festival, sparking fears over how this might impact the yearly event held in Ballyshannon. Meanwhile the spiralling cost of insurance coupled with a lack of volunteers are said to be two of the biggest issues facing the sector. Fianna Fail Cllr Michael Naughton says these festivals can be revived if they did get a much needed funding injection:Sinn Fein Cllr Michael McMahon says everything possible needs to be done to support the local industry:
